Profile Julien was born in Hawkesbury, Ontario. After competing in basketball, soccer and running track in high school he decided to attend the University of Ottawa in 1995 to complete a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics. He continued his studies and graduated with a Bachelor of Education in 2000 and a Masters in Exercise Physiology in 2003. At the moment, he is completing a PhD at the Univesity of Sydney in Australia. Julien competed in his first triathlon in 1999 and went on to win the Canadian Championships for the 20-24 age category in 2001. Following this early success, in 2002 he moved to Victoria BC in order to train full time as an elite triathlete and compete on the ITU World Cup Circuit. 2005 saw Julien make the National Development team and move to France in order to race on the Grand Prix circuit for Gonfreville l'Orcher. In 2007, he moved to Australia to study and continue competing as an elite. At the community level, Julien has always been involved as a teacher and triathlon coach. He also has his own on-line personal coaching business promoting the health benefits of exercise and fitness. With his dedication to excellence and commitment to performance, he is definitely an athlete to watch for. Ambition With a move to Australia in 2008, Julien plans to start competing at the half-Ironman distance. Along with racing the occasional ITU Continental Cup, he intends on racing in the Xterra race series. His goals are to finish in the top 5 in one of the 70.3 races within two years and his long-term goals include competing at the Elite World Long Distance Championship and racing in the Hawaii Ironman. Ultimately he hopes to have a long career as an elite athlete. As a coach, he aims to further the popularity of triathlon and its many disciplines by reaching out to a broader spectrum of athletes through his coaching, consulting, and training camps series with ePerformance.
